Schooled - July 3, 2009

Hit the surf in the predawn darkness with KW . Started off throwing a bone superspook in the first gut. Small waves were breaking on the first bar. I caught one dink on the topwater at first light. KW made his way out to the third bar and promptly strung three keeper trout. We stuck with it until 8:30 and dropped his boat at TI. We mainly fished the North shoreline in a light North wind. KW put on a flounder clinic and wound up with a stringer of 4 flounder and 6 trout to my measly 1 keeper trout. I fished right beside him but he definitely had the touch. One thing he did different was use a bass style weedless hook with the weight on the shank rather than by the eye. I'll have to try it. We finished up the day with a slow methodical wade on the North shoreline of the area. We found an undulating firm bottom that offered varying depths. I'll visit this spot again.
